The United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is a unique global initiative launched in 2000 that aims for businesses throughout the world to self-regulate by aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. This groundbreaking initiative first and foremost requires transparency and the annual disclosure of information open to all. Thousands of companies are now signatories to the Global Compact.
The Guilé Funds are the first funds that are committed to supporting the companies in their portfolios to create value for shareholders and society at large by exercising their responsibility regarding the ten principles of the Global Compact.
Why is disclosure so central to our actions?
After several crises―and before the next ones―it is essential to understand that risk management is, among other factors, based on accessibility to good information. Consequently, disclosure, in the sense of transparency, is vital.
Our conviction is that only transparent and relevant disclosure of a company's strategy and operational management can allow its stakeholders to grasp oncoming risks and future opportunities and to exercise their influence on companies so as to promote sustainable economic growth.
Disclosure therefore serves as an agent of change under external pressure from shareholders, the community, suppliers, clients, and others, as well as a catalyst for internal transformation through its effects on management and employee involvement in implementing better ESG management.
